Hey forum users, I am sanctioned by James to be the new map reviewer and rater. This means a few things:

1. When you go to download a map, you will be able to check out how good the map is, and some comments about it.
2. After James gets the page ready and the reviews are postable, I'll be running a map contest!
3. You may submit your maps to me, and I will review them, and send back comments to you, so you can change your map for better before uploading it to the site.

Yes, I will be reviewing Mods and TCs. I didn't mention them because I didn't expect them to be in quite the same supply as levels.

Its official he will be handling the maps and mods. I will making a clever little ASP system that handles it (bare with me I am a little busy on a new game (opps did I spill some beans, well what the hell its about time)).

Here is the possible rating criteria for those who want to discuss....

Each out of 10...

<b>GRAPHICS</b>: Tiles, no mistakes, extra sprites, etc.

<b>GAMEPLAY</b>: How easy the level is to navigate. Whether the whole level is accessible, or if there are excessive amounts of impassable tiles. Whether they give you too much ammo and weapons, or not enough.

<b>DIFFICULTY</b>: How hard the level is to complete. Levels can be extremely hard, but beatable. Map makers should definitely be able to beat their own map without cheating.

<b>REPEAT</b>: If you would recommend this level to your friends, and/or play it again to see if you can beat it faster.

<b>SOUND/TEXT</b>: How good is the briefing, and how are the ingame text/sound triggers.

<b>OVERALL</b>: Not necessarily an average, but the total impression of the map

It will take a few weeks to get this all in place as I am rather busy. I plan to make a start on the database this week.

Hmmmm, finally got around to doing something here. I am working on a generic file database which will store this information along with other stuff. Some pages on jbgames.com will then crack open this database using a wrapper and display the mods.

The mod database editor(s) will be able to add mod entries and even upload the files with screenshots and stuff.

Anyway it is at the early stages at the moment, there is some on-line testing going on though.

Hello! I have made some maps for Meteor 1 and I would be very grateful if you could check them. I have also made 4 HH maps. But I will have to send you my tilesets too.

U can show messages by using a script.
- create a sector where you want the message appear when the player walks over it
- right click on it and go to sector properties
- on the bottom there is a script tab
- use script trigger: yes
- script:
SC_GameMessage("eThis is the message");

I never knew this thread existed. I could review the maps that are currently at meteormods.com. Maybe we should do a /newstuff page like on doomworld.com, where every few weeks (or in meteors case, this could be months) I and maybe a few other dedicated people could review the new maps that were sent in in paragraph form. Good idea yes?
