Do any of y'all play app games? I have not, and I've got a 85% chance of being able to work on an app game doing graphics and maybe sound stuff. I'd be interested to know what y'all like / dislike. The game I'm going to be working on is a learning game (with a great idea) - so I'm not sure if I want to go all sparkly jewely with the art design, or go more carved stone / historic / polished. Do y'all think a more sophisticated look would work better than the classic sugar coated glassy gem feel of almost every game? You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

User friendly, clean and sophisticated look would definitely be a good start! If you want a more "mainstream" shiny look it could be 2.0 so to speak. Learning is probably more stimulated through a clean layout :-) Good luck! You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

I don't play app games, but I like the shiny designs as well. Though of course functionality is what's important, gfx are only a presentation. In short, you should focus on usability, and the app shouldn't be about gfx making skills (unless you intend to do that exactly ).

This is actually a really cool project, and it's way better as a touch game than with a mouse. Clean / vectory stuff is fun, but I think I'm going to go with a more realistic shiny amber look. You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

I've been here over 10 years! Yay! Anyways, JohnWE and I finished up the app. Full version: 120 hours of gameplay (60 levels) Free version: 6+ Hours gameplay (3 levels) It's pretty fun to play, and you even learn Chinese! I've learned mostly numbers 1-8. =) Edited: 14 January 2014 03:13 You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

Too bad I'm already learning Japanese. Adding in some Chinese could make it really confusing.
