Right now it is only possible to connect for multiplayer via direct IP (aka connecting to someones IP adress).

M2, hopefully (*cough* *cough* *James*) have a server option.

Im up to play sometime BTW :D.

Dont have any IM service tho.

Its just the "mantis" part, cause if you leave your full e-mail adress, the spam mongers will find it and spam you :( (hence the "YOUSTUPIDSPAMMONGERS...ect" part so he doesnt recive the spam e-mails)

Umm... sorry to interrupt but wasn't the Meteor network code buggy so that the game lagged like hell?

You are right, the lag really sucks.

The good news is that Meteor 1.3 is on the way. This uses an all new network system (developed for Meteor 2) which untiises UDP. The impressive performance makes Internet play very realistic, even for Dialup users. me_mantis and I have been testing it out and he uses Dialup (also I am in England and he is in the US).

The current plan is to actually release Meteor 1.3 before Meteor 2. Its basically Meteor with some of the cool stuff from Meteor 2. Other new features include dynamic lighting, particle effects and mouse over object info. Any day now, stay tuned.

James

Gosh, now M2 isnt as unique now :(

Ah well, we still have sectors n' scripts, cant take those away from us!!

EDIT: Any news about a central-based server ( thinks thats what its called), AKA a server list instead of direct-IP?

Don't worry it still plays very like Meteor 1. The lighting effects are very basic, nothing like Meteor 2.

A master server system is somewhere in the list, its a matter of getting around to it (it will need special peice of software to be developed). There is also the question of finding a server.

Wow, the particle effects are nice! I could only see them on the host computer tho =( I think its time for ALL YOU TOTALLY BORED peoples who have nothing better to do with your summer to head over to the METEORMODS.COM competitions page, and enter a Meteor Multiplayer Map!

Hey, me_mantis, can it just be for M1 maps? #1 like if someone isn't good at making maps for M2 and #2 the scrips make it unfair and #3 if SOMEONE DOES NOT HAVE M2?
