Any thoughts on cool background for M2? I was really hoping for the background to be an actual game of M2 already going, though without a player object, and you just spectate it. I have a few different ideas: -A battle of different units with Medium Tanks, Humvees, and a variety of different units. Every once in a while a new object will spawn to keep the battle in place. (Then again, this could bring FPS to its knees...) -Something very similar to Base Rosfield, which includes no battle scenes at all, but the camera will flip to a different view of Base Rosfield around every 15 seconds. One scene will be the main gate of Base rosfield, with the guarding troops and mounted gun turrets. Another scene will be on the roads next to a row of bunkers and a sattelite dish, while Humvees drive back and forth via waypoints. Maybe a helicopter will fly by. Next one might be at the fire station while the firemen are watching tv, and black ops troops will be patrolling outside. - A good view of the MDS in action. The MDS will be at the center of the screen, maybe looking like it is in orbit or something. Every once in a while you will see the crystal in the middle light up, charge, then blast a huge beam towards one end of the screen. This could take a bit of talent to make though.

I like the scrolling spectator view of units battling...but we should disable the noise because we all know how irritating a sudden burst of SFX could be. It should alse be a random seed kind of thing as we visit the menu millions of times when we're editing... You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

Yeah, it would be cool. But it would have to load the map every time we were going to the main menu. It's giving me second thoughts as to why i even made this thread. It probably won't be able to workout.

Another idea: Could repeating animated GIF's be used as a background?

Alright, then how about enabling support for animated GIF's?

Oh, and if someone doesn't know this, I have done the Rosfield Main Gate Cutscene. Also, when the player gets in the Hercules, a escort Dark Jet will come. I'll attach them here. You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

Also, heres an idea. Make the Hurculese Aircraft's wings a Sub-sprite like the Helocopter roaters, except have them not move. This way, the object detection box isnt increadably huge on the plane. You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

I was thinking about the same thing. This way, you would walk under the wings. There is a possible problem. When you shoot at the wings, you shoot past them. You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

Yeah I heard some talk about that. I agree that it could be a problem not to be able to shoot the wings, but shooting the base of the plane isnt that hard. Especially because of the fact that the object box around the plane is a square, rather than the cross shape of a plane, you can shoot the open area that is invisible behind the wings or in front.

Im thinking per-pixel object detection should be in order , or atleast bounding boxes you can place in the sprite editor, so we dont have to deal with messed up boxes Although, the game already struggles to process having the bounding box turn with the sprite, so any more might make the system requirements go up to 1GHz in speed :\ You need to login to create posts in this thread. |
