Do BMP format graphics also work with Meteor 2? That would make modding much easier; I wouldn't have to convert everything to pcx.

Yes, they are fine.. I think.. The only issue is that .bmp isn't compressed. This means that you'll end up with a bigger mod when its unzipped. Here's numbers. I took a screenshot of my desktop.. its 2560x800 as a .bmp it's 6,144,054 bytes as a .pcx it's 1,002,320 bytes as a .pspimage it's 373,541 bytes pspimage is a lossless compression created by paintshop pro. compressed as a .bmp it's 306,088 bytes as a .pcx it's 336,667 bytes as a .pspimage it's 362,579 bytes as you can see, bmps compress better, but take up 6X the space, and pspimages are already compressed, so it doesn't help to compress them.. But .bmp, and .zip compression is better in this instance. You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

Yeah, I always use BMP's when I create new objects or whatever. You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

I didn't know this. But in Meteor 1 we can only use pcx.

GIFs don't work as textures as of the beta(?) I'd suggest PNG with transparency support, and so being able to make for example transparent on-water vent floors which look über cool! ![]() You need to login to create posts in this thread. |
