As you may be aware M2 uses sectors and not tiles like in M1. Sectors are basically textured polygons (shapes) that are drawn in the map editor and assigned properties, they can be dragged around too.

The textures are currently stored in a folder (base\textures) and are in true colour PCX format. It is possible to add your own textures simply by putting them in that folder.

Are you going to create all the textures used in the game or can you find them somewhere?

Well they come from all over the place, some I made, some I took and editied with a digicam and the rest came from various sources including http://perso.club-internet.fr/lemog/# .

James I love this new polygon idea but there is one question,
how do you make the polygons?

I have seen the pictures like the one at the top of meteormods.com (this internet site) but do you draw them or do you have to move those green squares and make the polygon that way?

Its pretty easy, in the map editor you click "Create New Sector" (Polygon) And you get a square, click and the square stays in the spot you selected, you get another square and a line follows it. do the same thing and connect the last square to the one you began with. The squares are more likely called vertices and I think you have a limit of about 64 vertices or something on a sector. after the sector is made you fill it in with a texture and go through the properties. (things such as land, water, solid.)

Cool but only some texures look good. As the verisons progress they will get better. I should think of some cool ones when the beta comes.

I've been wanting to make some textures but its pretty hard to find some as that there are a lot of textures based on pretty much everything you need. (And some other funny, yet useless ones)

Ya. It would be more cool to make pictures for the forums. But trying to make texures I think it is worth the try. I waz planning on finding texures but I thought up making a mod w/ Mario. It sounds interesting and a challenge but I will try that first when M2 comes out. (James keep up the hard work I will wait as long as it takes, well maybe not that long cuz that is crazy)

Well some of the 4 are substantial mods. But yes 5 by Christmas sounds about right.

I reckon the M2 mods will overtake them by then.

I know this one game by Bethesda Softworks were on this one web site it has over 3700 mods for it! Its called Morrowind, bethesda desinged the game to be the best and most flexible single player Role Playing Game. Its pretty kool actually, but even on the best CPs it does a CTD (crash to desktop) every once and a while, so ya. Hopefully ill have my mod out by next summer
if M2 comes before October.

It doesn't take TOO long, unless you want to make sure that its completely flawless, which is why Halo 2, Half-Life 2 and M2 is taking so long to come out.

My mod is based off of what happens after the war. The UEN (United Eastern Forces) are still at large(They are the enemys in the first mod) excpet now they joined with terrorist forces and have retaken there old capital city of natashia. They then reactivated another super computer except this one plans to launch missles full of droids to major citys, you (the main character) is on a quest to destroy the computer and droids as well as learn about who you really are...(you learn our not human). So far I have made20 weapons, 7 old ones and 13 new ones. Once I get level 6 done I'll send the mod to james as a beta.

hehe my favorite smiley. But yah Im making a few for M2. I am also going to be making all the weapons that will be used in M2, And If its ok with James, I'm going to make weapons be held like the ones in my mod, (The Player sprite has no arms, and the weapons have the arms already on it. Thats how the Frag grenades and Double Pistols were made.)

I honestly dont know how that happened, and I didnt notice that the Arachnatrons were carrying double pistols \=/ until my cousin (Jay) dled my mod. They were supposed to carry 2 of those double yellow laser things like they did in the original meteor.

Ok JV. If you are redrawing all the m2 weapons, then I would like you to use more than 1 color for the arms. the arms in your mod looked flat.''

Yes, I will fix that in M2, but its probably not going to happen in my mod, I'm too worked out after drawing hundreds of frames for many, many sprites. But M2, the arms will appear more thick, not the little paper arms that Ash looked like he had. I'll send you a sprite on Yahoo Messenger.
