Gunmetal is a Meteor mod featuring a motherload of guns and roughly ten new campaign levels. I started this mod a few years ago and have not had any time for Meteor since then. I still have limited time but I am interested in releasing more of my material. I consider Gunmetal almost complete, unfortunately. The mod was built before I became somewhat of a grammar nazi, so the story is poorly written, but most of the ideas are there. Gunmetal development has wholly stopped, but the downloads will continue to be available. I will also try to release H2M2, but as usual there are a million stupid complications I have to overcome. Also, want to try to work with R3D but what's discouraging is the new 3D engine, and I have no experience in 3D modeling. So I don't think I will be working with R3D much at all. I believe what made Meteor 1/2 fun was the ease of editing, and the simple fun. R3D has taken the ease of editing away, and frankly I would value a Meteor 2.5 VERY highly. M2 has tremendous potential to become a game as complete at M1. It just needs a little work. I know what I'm saying is pretty cutting but I really have not had much time and this is the best place to say this. I think aleks means by "any old material?" is if you are using any stuff from the orignal Meteor 2 (Something that I hate btw) I always prefer mods to be something completely different. Or just not looking like M2 at all.

Maybe I really should give it another try. I tried once but, eh, i don't remember what happened, but... Look at my graphics at <a href="http://www.meteormods.com/downloads/meteor/mods/Meteor_CivilianWar_v2.exe">CivilWar</a>, and I'm still using those graphics in Antarctica! Well, I'm not going to change them, not at least the weapon huds, but I have already changed the sniper rifle. I have in antarctica the one that uses all M2 graphics, maybe a few changed, but it also contains some of my own graphics. Well, I'll release the beta for U soon and then make a screenie archive of Antarctica. You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

Ahh, got some work done today: Did the sweetest-looking menuback Imported my four lasers from my experimental M2 exe Touched up some hud gfx Drew up a rough campaign plan Became one step closer to having the Gunmetal exe up for screenshots And best of all, I'd like to announce that I have a very creative and eye-catching way of making doors in my mod. I love holidays... You know Mike, if you could send the menuback without the "Gunmetal" text, I could work out a nice shadow for it. I could adjust these: <li> how clear it would be, how fine you could read it <li> color of shadow <li> offset (NE, NW, SE, SW) and offset amount <li> text's (not shadow's) style, like wave, going inside, outside etc etc... <li> maybe more And I know that the font is courier, isn't it? Hmm, the blue tint doesn't look so bad, i'll play with the image to achieve something like that. The shadow isn't very important, then, because i'd blur the whole background. You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

*sigh* yes and no. I've already done about four multiplayer maps, and have plans to import from concepts on my normal M2 version. I've also done a script-heavy mission select map, which took a few weekends. In other words, the campaign is just getting started. I've been doodling and planning the campaign in my little free time last week when I wasn't doing the presentation. If you were under false hope, sorry, but it is really hard to put aside a lot of time to dedicate to GM. You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

On MSA, I am also having just 1 mission and it has just the first 2 levels lol. I have done just objects last week, I made the Gun Buggy, Jetski, Humvee and MRLS. It has been on hold for a while for M2M1 but M2M1 is now on hold because I'm waiting for the map convert "orders". Like, I am waiting for M2M1 the ones that want to do a map orders that which map they are doing and then I look what is left to me. You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

The mission selection page looks cool. Will it be avilible in Multiplayer games? I just had an Idea that would be really fun; make it so you can move around on the world map, with a soldier icon, and you have to get into a boat Icon to get across the water. This way, you could add an extra level on the way to a certian level.(and drive around the world in a boat =P) You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

Alright, I really want to get something out, so I'll release what I have so far. Right now I'm going to wait for the upload to be back (or send it to James), but basically it's everything thats done. I plan to release maps by the 8's or 10's when they're done. So, once the upload is working, I'll put a link smack dab right here and get downloading! I dunno, but it really is just the only thing thats user-specific that changes every once in a while, so I guess it's turned sort of into a competition. I do have the highest post count, but I'm more ashamed of it than I am proud of it. I would delete your post, but the HTML scare kinda took away my abilities temporarily. So it's just going to have to wait. Though I still have the ability to edit other people's posts, but I don't do that very often at all. BTW Mike, I edited the first post in the thread with the emails, I changed the symbols so that you won't be plagued with as much spam. I edited a post with mine a while ago, and I haven't been getting spammed ever since. It's a favor =) Your mod is looking amazing Mike, Well done!

Papercut: I do have the highest post count, but I'm more ashamed of it than I am proud of it. I am also a bit shamed of having the second largest post count due to the fall 2005 when I was speaking plain wood (could say spamming) and I have slowed down a bit for balance. I will take a few years to balance a thousand posts for 3 years, what do you think? I have also been a little busy so I have got no time to speak around here, tracking music is another thing, and testing HTML and scripts is time taking but I can pop up sometimes, I am running a HTML forum if you want to talk about homepages, scripts, styles and media as a new thing there. The forum is from Forumco and it uses the Snitz Forums engine (PLEASE if you even have interest in HTML even if you don't know anything about it, please register!!! My forum is quite dead.). I have my messenger also open every day at 5pm UK Time (except if I am too busy for it) so it's another thing too. My Yahoo messenger is drillguard at yahoo dot com and it is my email too if you want to mail me. Though I have been recieving bulk really often so I might not the first day see your mail. Mike323: Megaupload is causing firefox to crash...I'll send GM to James to upload. Funny how our forum is 'hacked' right as we release our mods, Jon.. Wow, either thats a big download or my computer is running VERY slow today. EDIT: Mike you didn't have to include every Meteor 2 file with the mod. Get rid of it for the next release and things will go a lot faster. Edited: 02 May 2006 01:12 You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

So it's fixed up now? I'm not looking foward to sifting through a lot of files cause M2 loads pretty much everything in the begining and there is too much junk in the Gunmetal folder. My computer can't handle all that stuff so it crashes. You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

Well I've been thinking about this, and I'm going to use land-based GPS sadalites. If this still seems to unrealistic, I was also thinking of saying that the ICPA picked up lots of malicious radio calls. You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

Well thanks for a positive comments...erm...glad you enjoyed it. Because Gunmetal was going to be a whole new version, it still has much of the default M2 stuff in it. I've already gotten rid of everything except the textures, sounds, effects/objects gfx, and a few other things. Bare with me as I clean it up, I was just trying to get A version out. I know this trick. It is done with a neutral object that the player can't see and when it reaches a specific waypoint something is happened. You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

I liked the pistures and sfx too. I reconized one gun as a gun commonly used in Stargate (p90 smg?). Only problem is I have to remove the sprites folder from the base folder to get it working on my computer. I don't like how you used a mix of base graphics and renamed versions in the maps. This mod looks really sick, I can't wait! I really want to start weilding those weapons =D. Below is a little graph that Will Wright explains quite fluidly, the gameplay of certain games. -The Lines are your possibilities/actions. -The Dots are your successes. -The Branches are your oppurtunities. (Thank you Fuzinavl for that link.) More scripting can either make more or less lines and branches. Lots of Branches are what you're aiming for. That's why Doom is currently my favorite game. Make sure the player is playing the game, rather than the game playing the player. You want to have a wide Possibility Space as Will Wright puts it. That's what made Ravagers of Time such a great mod. That mod had thousands of branches. Pay close attention to this post, as it will help you, and many other mod designers.

You have good taste in guns ![]() I love the game, and the scripting was nicely done. noticed you used "shine on you crazy diamond" for the factory; were you implying madness or was it just chance selection? it fits in very neatly.

I just found some very irritating bugs... the level where you have to destroy that crazy tank...the trooper nearby where you start is marked part of the terrorist faction and is set to idle. the huge factory with the generators have all the lights set as terrorist and apparently not no-ai, meaning that the soldiers under your command will fire at them forever... and i am kinda annoyed you cant find a stupid marine gun till near the end; srry...its such an awesome weapon!

Okay, today I actually spent some time preparing H2M2 for a release. The bad news is that I won't be releasing the "campaign levels"...no, not because I'm mean, but because they flat-out suck. The story sucks, the level design sucks, and it's just not fun. The good news is that it will be a released as a multiplayer-based mod. The weapons and vehicles are all there, so I will be deciding how to work out the maps. You need to login to create posts in this thread. |
