Annoying:I dont understand coding are there any extra coding that is not listed on the Manual and wont ever be?

Hopefully if James implements my predefined sectors palette idea then it will be easier for non-coder types since some predefined sectors can contain some basic script functions. I don't recall if there's a non-scripting way to implement exit flags for example, and that's a pretty basic feature of maps.

I don't exactly understand your second question, but I think what you're getting at is if you have to know coding or scripting in order to use the map editor, and from what I can tell, it's pretty optional.

EDIT: grammar

Right here we go.....

Q. Will there be beam weapons?
A. Yes.

The sector palette thing will go ahead. Its a bunch of premade sectors that you can slap down (includes exits and teleporters and other special things).

As for the scripting you won't need to do any to make maps. The design of M2 is based around 2 levels.

1) You can make maps just like in M1 by just slapping objects on the map (no script required). By default things will just work.

2) You can make maps just like in M1 but add script to do clever stuff.

Conclusion:
M2 is not script driven, the script is designed to help out with special events. By having scripting and pre-made sectors the game should appeal to a wide variety of designers.

Oh and Zable, I got the event code working (i.e. onWaypointReached and onObjectDie etc!
