Just like the Chinook, but in water...

Idea??

There should be two kinds of transport ships, 1 with no armament, but faster, and 1 with 1 minigun and rocket launcher, but much slower.

The one with weapons also carries more troops, like 6, and the fast one only carrying 4.

You will be able to set up any kind of transport, you could have a 1000 sheep in the back of a armoured minigun cow if you like.

Erm i hope not, especially like in the latest post of the thread "get in a vehicle" Where you are able to drive an APC and you could get shot the whole time and never die. Maybe it could blow up and you lose about 25% health. The only problem with that is how would you get out of a chinook when it blows up above water. I wonder if theres a way to get around that

Clearly you can see why they were not destroyable in M1. In M1 the transport ships were mission critical and the prospect of being dropped anywhere on route could really screw things up.

When designing any sort of game you need to think carefully about not allowing the player to get stuck as this is the quickest way to get players to uninstall it :).

As for M2 there is no code yet to handle land-based objects in water (they will simply be stuck). Also if you land on a wall or another object you will become stuck. But the main thing is that you can get in and out of vehicles all of the time so this needs to be catered for.

Bare in mind that getting a pre-defined ride is the same as jumping in an empty chopper except that the course is predefined and it will kick you out when its done.

I need to think this over but the general idea is that you can tell a pre-defined ride to be indestructable while the player is inside. However the code will need to allow for people getting out anywhere as this can be done generally during self controlled rides.

So the basic logic applies:

M2 will try to find some land for you to appear on however if it fails....

If you land in water you get wasted.

If you land on an object you kill the object (teleport logic).

If you land on a wall you get wasted.

If you end up stuck use the "Restart Mission" button.

wow, a restart button! didnt see that coming!

Is there a way so that when the chinook blows over water or walls you end up right next to them? or to the nearest land sector?

Oh yes! Telefragging!

I do see the sense, in that the thing you gets transported in is indestructible. But does the chinook fly away like M1, when it drops you? That would be the best thing, or else you could just fly through the whole map.... By the way, can you pick up objects while in a vehicle?
