Just because you have cable dosn't mean we all won't lag. Dial-up and long physical distances will cause the connection to slow down. I did play the beta of meteor1.4 vs James, and I was unable to win games, because my computer was too slow. However I did use the console to access all the items, and make myself invincible.=) Maybe thats why the console is locked out for non-host players.
