Have you noticed that M2 supports *.bmp's now? You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

Be careful here because the filesize if BMP files is often stupidly large. It uses this function to loads its bitmap images. http://www.talula.demon.co.uk/allegro/onlinedocs/en/alleg010.html#load_bitmap You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

Oh, James! If that would be in M1, many people would release their mods far more earlier (including me!) You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

Like james said, BMP's main problem is filesize. My sprites for M2: Enlisted were said to be 2MB (probibly closer to 500KB+ in BMP format) each when first created! O.O In PCX or JPG, the same quality stays while the filesize is GREATLY reduced. Converting isnt a problem if you use a paint/photoshop-like program such as The Gimp (its free). When your creating your image, you can save up to 20 or so different filetypes, including JPG, PCX, BMP, GIF, and many more, and it takes no more time than saving an image in paint. Not to mention you can make your sprites look possibly alot more detailed with Gimp. It's what i use for making sprites, although i suck at making a transition (aka animation, as in, making it look like the picture is moving without butchuring the sprite). I need some help on this from anyone who has experience in Photoshop or Gimp on this ![]() You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

<B>ARGH!</B>And now you tell that to me! Looks like history repeats itself. Hey, would we use *.jpg? No converting and small filesize.. Edited: 30 August 2005 05:34 You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

.jpg is compressed, and if we did that, there would be ugly pink edges on all the units. Would it be possible to change the sprite type from having the sprites and images seperate to having the sprite contain its own images? I wasn't thinking about the possible .bmp usage when I thought we should do the meteor1 format. You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

Well, create a base picture in *.jpg form and paste your file onto it. You need to login to create posts in this thread. |
