There should be more objectives in M2 like recon, search and rescue, infiltration, communications jamming and picking targets for bombers. Getting to a map exit just isnt enough.

For example:

for infiltration- the enemys could hear you moving around, so you would need to be reely quiet, and weapons may include a knife, silenced pistol and C4s

for target picking- you could get issued with a number of beacons which when placed on appropriate areas signal a bomber to move towards the target and bombs away.

What you suggest can be done with scripting commands (SC_EndCurrentLevel() if I'm not mistaken; anyway it's in the help box). There isn't enough scripting in place to implement everything you said, but hopefully there will be.

Since I'm a fan of infiltration type games (GoldenEye/Perfect Dark rocks!), I'll expand on your suggestion:

- There should be scriptable enemy AI so you have full control over what the enemies do (i.e. some, upon detecting you, will run over and attack whereas others will run away and send a "message" to other units nearby so they can swarm you).

- As a corollary, enemies should be aware of sounds. Maybe a "Silent" property for weapons is in order? Even if you hit an enemy with a silenced weapon, if you don't kill him within a certain amount of time, then he'll still be able to react. To players, remember that violence isn't always the answer to certain situations :-)

- AI scripts should also be able to call pass event messages to the map which can be detected with map scripts. So if an enemy spots you, his AI script sends an event to the map script, which then maybe changes the level or even ends the level outright.

An old dos game - gladiator (now remade as "openglad";)
If you hit #5 and you guy would say "yo!". All your buddies in the area would run towards you. I guess that would attract enemies too... nevermind.
