Hello guys! I'm new to the forum, but definetly not new to Meteor! Meteor was one of the first games I played, and still do. I remember playing this with my dad and even he played too! Meteor was a really addicting and fun game and had really good music in it too! Though I never followed the story ![]() For a moment I thought I were the only one playing this game To see this forum and active members since 2003, is just unbelieveable. It's a shame I didn't find this earlier. ![]() There has been Meteor 2 for over 5 years now which I am going to play immediately. (Why hasn't anyone told me this before?) And also, why can't you spam the rocket launcher any more? ![]() Meteor in 3D!? Can't wait! Thank you James /Luke Edited: 05 January 2012 00:29 You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

Welcome to the Meteor Forum!!! Meteor was such a fun game, it was one of the early free games that really stuck with me. If you haven't finished Meteor 2, you've got serious work to do! After that, take a look around at the Meteor 1 and 2 mods around here. There's lots of fun to be had. How did you happen to find us after all these years? Hey welcome to the forums! Yep, you're not the only one who plays Meteor. Still, we're a pretty small community. Small, but somehow a lot of... interesting things have happened around here... always great fun. ^_^ Currently, the forum is actually pretty inactive as you might see... there are a few posts per week at most. But the long (and I mean really freaking long) awaited first release of Meteor 3 is probably going to cause an activity revolution around here... at least we hope so! So well, it's always good to see new faces here, hope you stick around a bit. We could always use more active people. ![]() By the way... strangely I am jelly that you haven't beaten Meteor 2 yet. I myself have beaten it seeeveral times, to the point that I know the game almost literally by heart and got kinda bored of it that way. ![]()

@Luke \(^^,) Always good to see new ppl. Have fun with M2. @ParaSait Actually now that James is back on the forum, it's already more active as I've predicted. ![]() @mantis Maybe he hasn't played with the latest release. It was possible to spam rockets in older versions. @James See? Another player is waiting for M3 now. ![]()

We should like make an expansion pack for Meteor 2. I'd be totally up for that. ![]() Yeah I'm still around. In fact, I still regulate our irc channel on quakenet, despite its emptyness. I'm keeping this little hope of activity alive. Edited: 06 January 2012 22:02 You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

Thank you! ![]() @me_mantis Yeah, there are some pretty interesting mods out there. Unfortunately I haven't got the time to play them... ![]() Well, I guess I never thought of it since now. I searched for "Meteor" several times, it didn't bring me any success. But then I came up with an idea to search for "James Bunting", and then it got me here. ![]() You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

Actually yeah it'd be best to make an expansion for M1 because it's easier to mod.. then again M2 is more versatile. idk You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

Hi, i m also new to the forums, been a meteor fan since it was released, found it by accident on free game CD, a couple of years later i found the official site and was thrilled that there was a second game and now eagerly awaiting the third. Made a new thread in the Meteor 2 user announcement topic(Started playing again and got an idea for project), but noticed that there hasnt been a new post there for over a year, so went looking around the forums for some life and its pretty deserted, but found this topic and there seem to be some people here afterall.

Welcome. There aren't many new posts because, well there are barely any updates from James anymore, and the active members discussed almost every aspect of Meteor already.

We only really post if there is something we want to say, which is not very often. I suppose we could always bump activity up by starting a funny picture thread or something. I have some big plans I am going to announce soon though. You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

The Audio Panel is made in Allegro 5 and is the last part of JGUI to be rewritten from the old Allegro 4. JGUI (or James' GUI) is the core which drives all of the jbplay games. It has taken almost a year to convert it all to Allegro 5. For more information about what Allegro 5 is (and why it matters so much)... http://wiki.allegro.cc/index.php?title=Allegro_5 You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

So, if the audio panel is the last stuff you needed to rewrite for jgui, and jgui is the core of the game, does it mean we can expect a beta, alpha, pre-alpha, whatever release soon?

Yes. There is a plan somewhere. Mowteor is the test game, a new A5 version of Mowteor will be released within the next day or two. Mowteor 2 will be next which tests the M3 engine. This may be a few weeks away. Then M3. Additionally, the existing games will gradually be converted over to Allegro 5 including Bubbles, Esacape 2, Rod, Meteor and perhaps Meteor 2. In terms of the 2D games Allegro 5 introduces many features including hardware acceleration (so things scale and rotate much better) and native graphics mode support. So we can expect some more hardcore lawnmowing, this time in 3D! And a new audio panel? Can't wait!
