I'm currently working on a project to greatly improve the Online features of Meteor. In this project, I plan to make: -A truckload of new H2H maps (And Coop maps if we get to it) -A modified and balanced arsanel of (most of) Meteor's weapons -New graphics and sprites -Badass music tracks -Awesome action-packed new or improved soundfx -New tileset consisting of modified regular tiles and some new ones. We need help! If you'd like to help bring this project to life, tell us what you can do, and what you'd like to do, and you're in. However you need to at least be an Acknowledged member (Because you may be required to attach files) Current Members: =Papercut =Aleksanteri =Mrazerty =Dark Rain =Naval War =Canuck

I like the idea a lot but I have been busy these days and I don't think I will have enough time to join in.

I'm actually looking for modified soundfx really. Do you have Audio editing software? I kinda want to reuse the soundfx that are already in meteor, just make gunshots louder. (You could mix sounds together for cool results too) If you have music in .mod or .xm that would be awesome. If you can make some good tiles that would be good. We want to encourage the M1 'look' so the best would be modified or recolored tiles from Main.til, or you can make some orginal one on your own that fit snugly with the M1 tileset. Currently, the tileset consists of mostly fixing the unfinished parts of Main.til. For example, the "Steel to Grass" corner, there is a tile for all corners. There are now railroad tracks that go up and down vertically, instead of only horizontal. and a bunch of others.

Try Audacity or so, it's a free but really good sound effect editor.

You can edit the module files using Modplug Tracker: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=100385 And yeah Audacity is a great "raster" sound editor. Edited: 22 July 2008 19:13 You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

It's a shame the IRC channel is down right now. I made excellent progress on the tileset. (It's a lot easier to edit this tileset than mankind's) I'm hoping to use default Meteor soundfx, and enhance them to sound cooler. Could someone edit the Scream soundfx and make them sound a little deeper without affecting the length of the sound too much?

Yeah it's too bad, how am I going to get the tileset now? =P I think we should collect ideas for maps and put them as one big list on the first post of the topic and once we get the tileset finished we'd do them and update the list as the maps get done. Well one thing I want to make sure is that all maps 'look' like M1. Which should be pretty easy for everyone except for me due to Mankind being in progress. So I want a lot of Gray stone, Red Brick, Brown Brick, and Techy things. For making maps, It's common for me that I draw the map first on paper. (At least this is what I did for mapping in Doom, Meteor isn't too different) It's best to start with basic shapes, and then build rooms off of it. Like for example, when you start your map, pick a good floor tile, and make a giant Cross or a Square or something, then build rooms off it from there. Especially for HH maps, make sure there are few doors, lots of teleports, and wide open hallways (in case anyone has a rocket launcher or fusion cannon!) Also I am going to have to include a lot more people in the credits, because I copied and pasted a lot of tiles from people's mods and maps. Namely: Leo Lam Dave Man d34db34t DarkRain Petix I also slipped in a couple tiles from my old tileset that I used for Meteor WW3, and I also borrowed some tiles from Civil War, and Nuclear Facility.

As I understand it you, Papercut, will attach the mixed tileset so we can make maps.

I could probably put together a map or two. Also, another good sound editing program is Wavepad. It's at www.nch.com.au. Here's your deeper scream sounds, Papercut. (The one called 'scream.wav' was pretty deep already so I left it alone.) Edited: 23 July 2008 23:31 You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

Here, use this tileset--it's the same as the one Naval War's already uploaded, but with more tiles. You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

Ugh I hate Scream3.wav and Scream5.wav. Overall they're terrible sounds and even Canuck's modified sounds can't save it. I may have to replace those sounds with something new. However, the rest of Canuck's scream sounds are getting used. I like the DOOROPEN sound too so I'm using that. And when you guys make tiles, I'd prefer that you draw the images with MS Paint instead of making new tilesets, or at least make your tiles in meteor and export them as PCXs. We plan to combine all tiles into a single tileset, and a lot of progress had already been made. However, I did check the two tilesets and theyre great! All tiles from the tilesets are getting used. Naval war, you're map will not show up properly with the new tileset because it uses your own, Edit your map and replace the tiles from your tileset with tiles from the original Main.til to avoid your map getting all messed up with the new tileset. When the tileset is finished and released to the public, then you can replace the default tileset with the tiles we copied out of your tileset using the finished tileset. After that, attach your map again and it will be used in the Multiplayer pack =)

Umm, yeah it's a little confusing I know. When the Meteor Multiplayer Pack is finished, we want all the maps in it to use a single tileset. So the work with it being done is that we are copying tiles from other tilesets and putting it in this one. Your map uses the tileset you made, which is fine, though when you replace your tileset with the one we made, the map will look really ugly because it's a different tileset. The tiles from your tileset have been copied and pasted into the new tileset, though will not show up in your map when it's used because both tilesets are not exactly the same. To keep your map from getting all messed up, what you should do is replace every tile in your map with a tile that came with meteor (For example, the barrels you said, replace with meteor's crates) Then when we send you the finished tileset, you can replace those crates with the barrels that were there originally. This is so your map doesn't get messed up before we put it in the Multiplayer pack.

Great map, Naval War! I have attached the Dark Conspiracy tileset but with some brand new tiles. You can use it, Papercut. Also I may start mapping when the whole tileset is ready because it will be a mess if I start now.

I just made a H2H map with the regular Meteor stuff. I assume it will work with the mod too. EDIT: I just made a new version, with more ammo and rats =)
