First of all: Ash is promoted to general! Even though it isnt 3D i believe that it will impress us very well. Zooming and rotation are cool features and i think it gives an FPS like feel of controls. I wonder how the new AI and scripts will work. And i will join the beta testing of course! I wait for it impatiently. Screenies are accepted though it may spoil the cake =) Good work James!

Thank you all (x11 =)! I think too that it will speeds up things a little as i've donated about 2 weeks ago and there was an announcment about M3 a week ago.

It's a miracle i still have jbserver notifications on or I never would have known about this. James deserves some high fives as he's keeping meteor the way it was meant to be. To be honest I thought meteor was dead at this point. I hope I'm soon wrong. I can't wait to give this game a shot.

2 Ideas for this new upcoming meteor game 1)Alternate firing, Yeah it would be useful to have some weapons have alternate firing modes like the assault rifle should have primary fire or machine gun/normal fire and secondry for grenade. 2)Charging weapons, Yeah like BFG9000 In Doom 3 or something but you waist more ammo the more charged the weapon is but ofcourse you will do more damage/bigger explosion. BTW When can we expect an in-game screenshot for this hot new meteor game? Edited: 23 October 2007 09:31 You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

What do you mean with "bots"?Automated players for multiplayer or robots?

i think that it would be something like the allied units. they wander around and shoot the enemy. the only change maybe that they move as fast as the player, but it can be done even with M1

The bots must also pick up weapons and ammo. They can also have waypoints on the different maps. This will make them smarter.

Bots would also be handy if no-one is on multiplayer, and you don't want to play a sp game... It will also give the n00bs a chance to "discover" the feel of playing a good ol' deathmatch =)

I think it will be interesting to see how many of the suggestions from the M2 forum are included in M3/Elements. There were some pretty good ones there...Maybe I should start a seperate thread for M3 suggestions. You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

The things that makes M3 different are the hardware graphics and more importantly the new scripting system. In a nutshell the entire game is scripted including stuff like weapon selection, AI and even drawing the HUD. Scripting functions/events can be overridden by modded code too. Therefore anything is posible including alt fire, weapon charging, bots, whatever you like really. James You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

I find it hard to make scripts on Meteor 2. I hope that the scripting system won't be harder too.

Well you can spend most of the time changing the supplied script code rather than just writing new stuff. I have to write the code to process your script code. Thats a little more tricky ![]() You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

lol, srry i was gone a long time... how about armor sectors, kinda like in COH? Basically, when you or AI soldiers are near defensive structures, like sandbags, you get an armor bonus and a dodge bonus. It might be difficult tho...

Maybe have a sector type that acts like (as far as projectiles are concerned) like a water sector some of the time and a solid sector the rest, so some bullets or shells or whatever hit is, but the rest go over. It'd also be great if there was a kind of sector that blocked explosion blasts, so that you can't run around blowing people up through walls without them ever seeing you! lawl yea, basically a negate AOE contact kinda sector? nice one (dang i was gonna go for that one...) now, aura effects...um, officers and certain objects could be assigned aura effects(like captains could boost armor and AP(attack power) of all nearby friendly units within however many yards. lol.

That would be pretty cool. Sorta like the captain is organizing the rest of the troops? It would add a bit more strategy to the game too-if you take out the officer first, the rest of the troops are easier to drop. You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

If he allows everything to have a script attached (even projectiles and powerups) all of that would be possible. Just need a whole new array of commands. Type in 'cool' during the credits in m1 or 2 edit: The console command 'God' is obvious 'The advent Project'-That sounds cool. edit2: If I can script anything in elements...I could install programs on the computer of the person who is playing the map without them knowing? ![]()

lol if you try sneaking in a trojan, ima track you to the ends of the earth!(maybe not the ENDS of the earth, just the earth ![]() if James decides to attach script commands to everything, then not only will modding be harder, but the performance is also questionable...too late hmmm plz tell me this new lang is similar to C...
