I can quickly get sick of editing objects, weapons, sprites and projectiles because of all the loading in between for small changes. Wouldn't it be much better to also have simple Sprite, Projectile, Weapon, and object editors that I could use from the Windows desktop, outside of Meteor? It would certainly make editing a lot quicker and easier.

Yeah, this gets on my nerves as well. Why does Meteor 2 have to pre-load all data, instead of only loading data it needs? Couldn't Meteor 2 reload every time you save&exit an editor? That would make modding easier. You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

I dont understand why meteor 1 loads its sprites, races and weapons, projectiles, and everything else almost 9 times the speed of M2. Why is this so?

probably complexity, as m2 has to handle extra lights, scripting, sectors with corners anywhere, textures bigger than 16x16 tiles, object types, behaviour etc etc

Yeah but mine loads all that stuff wven when im not loading maps. I just want the weapons, sprites, objects and projectiles loaded, it should keep everything else the same. You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

I talked to aleksanteri about this. He considered the possibility of producing something like this.

one great thing would be NOT TO RELOAD TEXTURES WHEN TESTING A MAP IN THE EDITOR. THEY HAVE ALREADY BEEN LOADED AND YET M2 INSISTS ON RE-LOADING THEM. we desperately need a tool to re-load only certain areas of m2, and when working on mod, an option for either folder (base or <mod>.

Yeah...I think that James should fix that. Also, it would be useful to have some kinda "template" click-and-code thing for binding massive amounts of objects; It would automatically set the script in a C editor next to the map editor, allowing faster map-making and scripting.
