In my spare time, when i wanted to get away from CRATER for a little bit, I put together a sound mod that took me no longer than a few hours called NES Sounds. If your unfamiliar, NES stands for Nintendo Entertainment System, which was released as one of the video gaming consoles that made a revolution back in the 80's. I produced a little mod that replaces all the sounds from meteor, to make it sound like the quality of the NES.

>Why did you do that Papercut? Why did you think we wanted low quality sounds??<

The reason I did this was to make meteor into more of an arcade-like game. This was really just for laughs, and for anyone who's interested in the "old skool" theme.

I was thinking of updating the mod later to have 8-bit colors sprites too, and possibly some Mario, and Zelda music.

I thank the dude who made the 8bitsound.wad for Doom, for providing his soundfx to the public. I also thank the makers of DeepSea, for allowing me to extract those sounds from the wad file.

Below is the attaced sound mod. Enjoy!

EDIT: Ack! The batch file that's in the ZIP file is invalid, it won't open up the mod correctly. Below I attached the updated one. It should load the sounds correctly now.

I guess the batch can only be downloaded if it's zipped up.

Here's a few songs to go along with your gameplay!

1. Super Mario Brothers Theme song
2. Contra Level 2 - Inside the base (Couldn't the song for the first level)
3. The Legend of Zelda Theme Song.

Extract the ZIP into your meteor folder.

Why isn't this mod on meteormods.com? Do you need an invitation?

Well i got them from a Doom mod that was submitted to be 'free'. If there was anything I stole, it was the idea. The dude originally made the sounds to replace the monster sounds in Doom.
