Fascinating, now I can fix all of the problems of the universe based on pages of crud. I am sure you are keen for me to fix the occasional crash bug and if only it really was as easy as looking at somebodys system spec and slapping up a fix. Now for the actual error... The word occasional is the biggest problem because there is no way to replicate the problem on demand. However some considerable debugging has pointed the problem to the depths of the sound code. An invalid voice (number) gets created and there is no easy way of telling why. I have known this for some time. The effort lately has been in making the rest of the game work which is starting to look as if it has paid off. Its a real pig to nail this bug down which is why it is still there. Perhaps if I worked on games during the day and actually got paid for it then I would have the resources to fix it quicker. Anyway I don't need to make excuses, it will be fixed when its fixed. Very true indeed James 8) But I have some helpfull advice for lava anyways, wiether or not it benefits M2 (it probilby wont). First of all, you could probilby get your page file lower (its 225MB or around there). To do this, go to start-run-type in "msconfig"-startup and uncheck EVEYRTHING you think you wont need/use. The only things i reccomend you run are things you use every day or your virus protection. Such as, some of that stuff is useless and wont be used unless you really need to, and besides, almost everyuthing on startup can be opend manually through the Start menu if you really need to, so disabling all of it (mabey except the suggestions i just made) might help overall. Also, you nVidea drivers are out of date, download the latest ones (81.XX) from http://www.nvidia.com . You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

It might not (it probilby wont), but it'll still do wonders on other games/stuff. If this is a driver issue on your part however, then this might fix it, but as James said, its more of an M2 related bug. You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

the drivers will help. If not with meteor, they will help with a bunch of other stuff. I wish I could solve the problems of the universe by reading pages of crud! You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

Mike shut up! OK true it will help me with other stuff I gotta agree with that and since the code cant be fixed then does the crash happen to everyone or just a few? Cause if it happens to just a few people then it must be my computer. You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

Well Mike is right either way but Assain suggested that he posted the log so he should get some of the erm credit. Its a bug thats for sure and it will get fixed. However it is not unreasonable to assume that some machines will be more prone than others. I will look at it again soon but I am working on Escape 2 right now. Edit: Oh and for the record its fine to post logs, we are not pushed for resources on the server. Edited: 24 December 2005 22:48 You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

Actually, most of that stuff in the log i dont look at, only key parts to get to know how your computer works abit more. I generally say post all of the log to make it easier on the person posting it ![]() And installing new drivers (you can download them for free for your video card, you Radon cards use different drivers than nVidea cards) wont help everything, but it might just do the trick, and afterall, i think you did mention it was light-related, which might have to do with your drivers/video card. Might be a compliment Mike but it has nothing to do with the current Topic so it goes off-topic @James:So you mean that everyone's Meteor 2 is crashing randomly and it is a bug of the game not of the Computer. @Assain:Light-Related?When?I dont remember I did but I dont it is about lights and so....They do slow the game when there are many lights at once and when there are millions of particles on one screen but this bug occures when everything is normal.....I think it either has to do with a file that does not exist in Meteor 2 or as James said some kinda unrelated-code. A DXDIAG log just gives a bunch of info on your PC and driver versions pretty much, they only help us figure out a performance related problem, or a problem that might be because of a driver issue or an issue with one of your hardware. Did you even have a problem in the first place Aleks? And BTW, aleks, you have dangerously low RAM. I'm surprised you can run Windows 98 on that much RAM, that RAM used to be alot of ram for stuff like DOS XD You need to login to create posts in this thread. |

Is that why my comp takes 1 minute to start up? And then a half to create the desktop. I need still to save money for the new comp but when I have it, I'm pretty sure it will have enough RAM. Oh and I had the comp crash a few times... Edited: 26 December 2005 16:48 You need to login to create posts in this thread. |
