It makes game.ini which contains everything except the maps and scripts in one file. A bit like an uber itemdefs. With the editor there is no required exposure to the INI file, it provides a simple GUI for creating a tweaking mods and includes validation and reference updating etc.

It just pumps out the INI when you save it.

Impressive stuff. That deserves at least 10 chawklit bars.
:choc:choc:choc:choc:choc:choc:choc:choc:choc:choc

Also, how is the scripting system coming around? How much flexibility will it actually allow for?
Just asking because the answer would give a good measure of the modding potential :choc(^^,)

Also also, will it be possible to make 2D mods somehow?

The scripting uses AngelScript which pretty much puts it on par with Meteor 2 in terms of scripting capabilities.

The last month or so has been spent working with the Bullet physics library which is finally going well.

Work has not shifted to vertex shaders and real-time shadows which is proving to be far from easy.

So does that mean that grenade launchers will actually work properly now? :p

Also: Ragdoll deaths? Cooler explosions? Physics puzzles? More awesome vehicle parts with ramps? Maybe a gravity gun? :>

Pretty much (not sure about the ragdolls). The physics also handles collision detection.

ragdolls are hard to make...

How about using the feature that allows joints to break when they're under too much stress?

that could be fun!

I found a small brown bat on a leaf on a plant in my backyard. I saw it there yesterday and today. I'd pet it, but it seems easy to wake, so I'll just celebrate how fuzzy it is here!

I don't celebrate still not being able to get OpenGL shadow maps to work properly in Meteor 3 after about 8 weeks! It is driving me nuts.

But I do celebrate the idea of Meteor 1 possibly going open source.

I'm pretty happy about getting a game engine update for blender 3D - with new soft openGL shadows! =D

Perhaps it's worth poking through their game engine shadow code, because these shadows look great!
