Hey peopple!
James will never turn the Meteor series an open source ?

Or something like a compiler/decompiler ?

please ! On this way I'll need to create my own game!! hehe :p
but... this phrase. This sounds confuse and means a looong way.
but... If I want to make my own game across the years ???

I know, I know, you will say: Now Rondom loss his rest of lucidity.

But man, it is more easy than wait for James time, cause I know. He has his work and etc.

To the end... Well, wat you (anybody) recommend for me that edit the C/C++ language, or a program near the SeeR or something compatible with winXP (for resolve the problem with dynamic lighting) please !

Well thats all... :) thanks for the attention.

I quess M2/1 will never be open source. And such thing as a decomplier would be illegal I think.

Sorry guy, either catch up James or do your own game.

Yes you are not supposed to decompile Meteor games as it violates the licence agreement. It is pretty much impossible anyway.

The Meteor games are not open source for a few reasons which I won't really go into. However it is not unforseeble that the source code for these games could be released eventually.

I have considered letting the code for M1 go but I am not really ready to do that just yet.

M2 is still being developed (technically) and there are no forthcoming plans to release the source.

Possible realistic candidates would include the Windows ports of Escape 2 and Rod 2 Test. It all depends on how much people really want to see the code. Some internally developed libraries would be required too that would be released as binaries but these have not been documented yet.

I know nothing from game programming and so don't care if you have it as open source or not.

The only game I did was a chasing game (was it you who chased or the computer?), written in QBasic and at a computer club =P it was about 3 years ago, just before getting in Meteor. (I haven't been in the forums that time tho, I didn't actually know what's a forum so I kept away from that link =P)

Plenty of complete game source codes at http://www.allegro.cc/

Even with Meteor2's source in hand, it would be difficult to make changes. M2 has many features (complexity), and you're dealing with someone else's code.
I recommend looking at smaller and simpler games.

You'll see that it's easier to write a game engine yourself, make very minor changes to someone else's engine, or simply create mods for an exhisting engine.

I made my Musketeer 1 and 2 mod by 'editing' the most of the regular mod's part, like team names, and so on... :D

That site you said i've looked there once, it is a good site :)
