Nice job on the new forum look. The 3D tables were getting old lol.

by the way, might wanna make the secondary cell color a little more defined...

I gotta agree with you on that one. I didn't like how the "recent posts" thing on the right only shows the posts within that forum though, rather than the M1 forums, ROD forums, and renegade forums.

Thanks, I agree that the new look is a great improvement over the older more dated "style".

By secondary cells I assume you mean the white cells between each grey cell. If this is true then I agree, these should be an off-white colour and not the same as the page background?

As for the recent posts list it is important to keep them seperate for 2 reasons.

<b>Reason 1: Logic</b>
It causes confustion, for example Aleks made a post about Rod a while back and everybody thought he was taking about Meteor 2.

<b>Reason 2: Different Forums</b>
There are 2 non-Meteor related forums within the forums list, one being Renegade Zone and the other is ENet (a new arrival over the weekend). It is simply not practical to mix the recent post lists for all of the forums anymore.

You could argue that the above reasons are essentially the same thing. To make things easier I added a drop down forum picker at the top/right of the page for quick & easy forum switching.

that was a good one. I mean, the forum switcher.
Have you noticed that the M1 forum recents are almost empty.
Actually, I like the secondary cell white. I think that if it needs to be changed it should be changed to a pale yellow colour like <span style="background-color:rgb(0,0,0);"><font color=rgb(255,255,200)>this.</font></span>

this needs to be in black bakground, otherwise it gets too pale to see with eye!

What I meant by defined was that the primary and secondary cell colors need to be more contrasting or else the forum would look cluttered...

I like the tag removal coding. Talk about less clutter.

Yes sorry about the HTML tag thing but it was well overdue. The "left open tags" in the usernames was really screwing things up behind the scenes. The usernames are now censored in the same way as forum posts when displayed on the page.

Additionally the font tag has now been removed as well as use of embedded style tags. This is to prevent people putting huge text on the pages which in some cases can deface the forums (especially in the ENet forum which was setup on behalf of the author of ENet).

A lot of the changes made around here lately are due to the arrival of the new ENet forum. This forum is not linked with Meteor at all and "Meteorites" should no have to post there unless they are using ENet for their own game programming projects.

Perhaps the font tag removal is a little harsh and I could be dissuaded on that decision if people make a fuss.

As for the usernames I plan to add options allowing people to set the colour and basic appearance.

I disagree. Don't bother, we don't need colors, we need more Meteor related posts...

You might be able to expect more members after I throw this around the net once a more "bug free" and "stable multiplayer" version comes out. I even plan on sending this to GameSpy/GameSpot, ect, as i know they have alittle thing on freeware games. If it can make it on those sites, you can certainly expect a higher user rate, although remeber alot of people who might like this game wouldnt use the forums.

Which is another reason why we need server based multi, so those who are not forum users will be able to play ;)

have you guys noticed that Enet Founder Lee Salzman (he's at the moderator grade) is at the Enet forum.

Well, I think 2 moderators were not enough for james so he invited Salzman and promoted him from Member to Moderator. (well, that's just a guess)

Wow.
#1. Enet forums are not really related to meteor2 users who play games, and not write them.
#2. I, and papercut do not moderate enet or the renegade zone forums.

And Salzman doesn't moderate M1, M2, RZ and ROD forums?

Exactly.

Meteor/Meteor2/Rod = Mantis and Papercut
Renegade Zone = RenegadeZone.com
ENet = Lee

It all works well. I may change the post counts to be forum specific "x posts in this forum".

Oh and the Member ranks will be renamed to suit Meteor and ENet etc.

Good enough?

Member ranks, I suggested one: <a href="http://www.jbserver.com/forums/ThreadView.asp?ForumId=4&TopicId=24&ThreadId=1035">ENet Forum</a>
