It would be really nice if there could be a text editor in the map editor that allowed you too make both the map Script file (automatically naming it) and also allowing you to make the map breifing file. Another neat feature would be to have a script editor in that text editor. It would come with a already pre-made list of commands that you could pick from, maybee color coding, for both levels and script codes, and it would have a debug mode that could tell you what was wrong. Along with that being able to see the map and the script file whilest being able to just hover your map over a waypoint/unit/location and getting its id or location. That way you can easily code the game for units that are reinforcments or follow certain paths or even better yet just drag your mouse from the unit to the text editor to put down unit id's. I know this is a big thing but it would really be nice.

For one thing, it would be nice to be able to hover over an object and see it's ID, set it's properties, etc. without having to select an object

I think you can, just place you mouse over the object and look over to the Info menu on the right (where it shows the sector properties in sector mode). If not then mabey it could be added.

No, the only place it shows the object ID is when you hover over it with another object

Thats because in Object Mode, you have to have an object sleceted from the menu, otherwise it isnt in object mode.

Mabey there could be a quick info key. Such as, you hold down ctrl key, and whatever your mouse is over (object, sector, ect) it shows its details in the Info Window. If you hold ctrl+shift, it will show properties of lights. This will all be reguardless of your current mode.
