When driving a fast vehicle, I'd like to see ahead a bit further.

A Solution: (that would work for infantry too)
If "always mouselook" = TRUE
Hold Down Right mouse button to center screen around movable crosshairs. Release button to center screen around player.
640x480 view distance solved. Easy to switch between views.

Info display: keys & disks should be moved from under the minimap. Info at the screen bottom should be moved to the left or right side of the screen. The dark bar really cuts North-South visibility.

Cool idea! I like your icon. C-DOGS is an awesome game. Also it could be nice to have like a GTA effect. example: the faster you drive the higher the screen moves up. I don't know if it's possible but I believe if scripted right, it can be done. James is this possible, or would the game creator not allow it?

thanks, you're the third who's complemented my icon.
The GTA effect would require seperate camera scripting for each vehicle. My suggestion is universal to all vehicles / infantry. It is more flexible, easy to use, and easier to implement.

How about this: when right clicking with aim, and if the object has a "turret weapon" (could be defined in weapon editor) the car would still drive in the same direction, just the turret would turn on the vehicle.

I like it. Vehicle (land,jet,boat) control could then become:
w = forward
s = backward
a = rotate left
d = rotate right

The exception is choppers. Infantry style control fits them. Some chopper inertia (with dampening) would be sweet, and perhaps improve positional accuracy in netplay. Maybe inertia would help reduce lag of other objects too. (of course infantry would get higher dampening) Heh, sheep on ice.

I thought of A better Solution:

Hold Down Right mouse button to center screen halfway between player and crosshairs.
Release button to center screen around player.
Screen panning / movement will be smoother than my first suggestion.
Limits: crosshairs can go "screen_width" # of pixels to the right / left of player. screen_height for up / down
... so that player / crosshairs won't go offscreen

there would have to be a red "laser site" line to indicate if there are any obstacles between you and the target since player object will be off-screen.
