I think the crosshier should be not included in weapons unless they have a "scope". Would a pistol have an accurate shot with a crosshier? Nope! So maby for wepons that dont have scopes there could be a circle there representing the the aria of shot/general space of fire. But, if its a weapon like a sniper rifle, there would be a scope crossheir.

I think there should be crosshairs but there should be a accuracy rating so that the weapons won't always shoot were the crosshair is yet they will shoot around that area.

the weapons already do not shoot accurately. You can fix it so they fire in all directions no matter where you are aiming.

What happened to the "off screen aiming" idea? It would make sniper rifles anything else than a pistol with a slightly better range and damage.

He means, that if you push the mouse to one of the edges of the screen, you will see further in that direction, thereby being able to shoot ppl further away, but the character will be standing where he is (I think...)

No i dissagree with shooting everywhere where you are not currently aiming it loses a lot of bullet's(except if you made up a cheat or weapon that has 999999 or no-limit ammo)ah come on shoot in randomly waist's ammo for nothing that would not make a fair play.

The off screen stuff: Written and illustrated by Myself.

Heres how it goes. its hard to explain, but eventually I will post a concept pic on meteormods.com.

You press the [alt] key.
A small 160X160 window pops up on you game screen.
In the center of that window is your aiming cursor.
Under your cursor, you can see terrain.
you use the [t][f][g][h] keys to scroll the map in the small window.
You press the [space key].
A rocket fires and misses you targeted area.
You try repeatedly untill you finally hit.

This would be really useful on games where you enter a artillery platform, or a ships turret.
you could have a mission in which you have to use a long range artiltery to destroy an enemy bunker.
you could also get in a ship turret and fire at troops on shore.

Now I understand, I reckon we could do something using ALT+mouse movement to scroll the window.

THe [alt] mouse would be fine. If weapons hade a very slight <5% miss radius, they would be much more inaccurate at far ranegs. It would be like my rocket launcher(the 1st 1 i send you.)

Looks like I have to clean up the mess...

Problems:

1) Sniper rifles, heavy machineguns, rpgs and so on has a greater range than smgs, rifles, pistols and so on.

2) The screen is (usually) not set to 4096x4096.

3) Being a visible sniper is not good...

"The Offscreen Aiming" solves the problem in this way:

When using a weapon with a greater range than the space between the player and the edge of the screen, holding the right mouse button will allow the crosshair to aim/scroll off the screen: the player stays were he is but the crosshair can move off the screen and drag the camera with it.

Just like Flamable Maniac said!
