Yeah sorry I don't want to get people too excited but the final product should be pretty neat.

I was hoping to finish the 1st beta for the end of June but obviously I did not make it.

Beta 1 will contain 2 or 3 levels and will demonstrate a lot of new features. It is starting to all come together but in its current state it is simply not ready, however it is progressing very rapidly.

I am almost at the stage where I am thinking of how to deploy the betas, ideally there would be some kind of registration process to keep it to forum members only?

It is most likely that you will need to type in a code to run the betas, codes will be available to beta subscribers.

Subsciptions will commence before the 1st beta is released so you wont have to wait around for a code.

------
This is how I think it will work...
------

The beta subscription service/notifications will be available to all forum members, a tick box will be added in your forum profile settings (tick the box to subscribe, simple as that).

Once subscribed you will be emailed notifications of releases and codes will be displayed in your forum profile settings. If you post your code in the public forums then it will be removed along with your forum account (I doubt that will happen).

You guys should stop putting so much pressure on the guy, hes one man trying to satisfy everyone who plays this game, not to mention he has to look back at the suggestions every once in a while to look for good ideas. and also if you got the game before it was finished, you have any idea how buggy it will be??

I know that the skin is peeling off your eyelids and your brain is evaporating after it melted yesterday, but i kinda feel that way too. If it didnt take so long, My mod will be uploaded to meteormods.com, and i made that to keep people busy while waiting for meteor. What the hell is taking so long for my mod to get uploaded?? The main reason was to keep people occupied, thats why i made it and M2 is gonna come out before my mod does, and when M2 is out, M1 will be in everyones recycling bin.

Well lets hope so, there is no point of rushing out a half-baked beta.

There is plently of work going into M2 right now and its amazing how much effort is needed. I am currently getting the new Item Editor up to speed which has required several sub-tasks (like new form components to be written etc). After that I plan to sort out the music system, hopefully M2 will support more module based formats than M1 as well as packing full MP3 support.

The only fun parts is being that I'm the psycho extremist and I'm blowing the enemy army right out of their shoes and watching the enemy osprey crash full of worthless enemy machinegunners fall in the ocean and watch them sleep with the fishes lol.

But I know what you mean, and to help you out a bit ill try to beat this game while trying to protect my allies as much as freekin possible.

Killing all the allies is a good way to spoil the gameplay.
Since they just sit there and watch their other buddies getting killed by you.

Maybe allies will actually be USEFUL in M2?

Another thing that would be cool is if you kill an ally, you get a warning, kill another, get an order to stop, kill another they start firing at you for a short period of time, or you could simply fail the mission.

What if you accidently kill an ally by shooting a bazzoka, it misses and hits an ally or a group of allys, the game shouldn't end because of that.

hmm... That would suck. Well theres 2 options:

1) Stick to the friendly fire part that makes warnings.

2) Remember to save before you whip out the RL!

Heres a better suggestion. How 'bout making it so that when you kill a good guy, after warnings, they stop helping and retreat, or make it so they start attacking allies, thinking "There must be a spy/assain now that the commander killed all of these frendlies! We must help!". =\ or somthing along the lines.

"Witch!!!! Shoot him!! Shoot him!!!"

There should be a Friendly Fire option for single, like you cant hurt allies, but if this options on, the game difficulty would increse or somthing like that.

Let James do his work. He got hooked on Doom 3 (I would too if I had it) and that's a good reason to give him more time. If he does not finish it before October now that is when you should get angry. But he is almost done I think. *_*?

Actually I like the friendly fire thing, that can used for an 'Easy Skill' And if your playing on a harder skill, friendly fire will be turned on and you can nail your allies and lose. Maybe add a few more qualities to make 'Hard'... hard.

Actually If I were you, I wouldnt get mad at James just because his game's not finished. That seems like a pretty poor excuse to get ticked at someone. Hes not constantly working on the game, I didnt constantly work on my mod, and it resulted kinda schmalty (Many glitches is what I mean) The guy has to eat, sleep, take breaks from his comp, Answer many questions on these forums, reply to loads of emails and IMs, Test out peoples meteor mods, Troubleshoot the mods, And I bet theres a load more than that. So the summary is basically he's a human, not a robot.

It is hard give him a chance. James should give out the non-finish beta so people will stop being angry. They will see what it is like. Then they will stop.

M1 Is going to stay for begginer's and M2 is for advanced then especially M2 editor's are advanced too which make's the editor's better like i mean making polygon's is more reality terrain while M1 don't have polygon's.

You're not from around here are you :D Back in the day i remeber when we shot for last summer... ahh good times...

I AM wondering however... wasn't the newer M1 going to be relased "in a couple of days" (aka a week ago ;D ).

Well i think JB next time is better off not to release a date, only a large timeperiod (like the summer or the winter), cause its only eneded in chaos O.O

Halo 2 took a while and that game came out nearly flawless.

JB: maybe it would have been a better if you didnt tell anyone about M2, not even me or me_mantis. Then finish it and show to everyone by surprise.

Download size.

Well, the music easily takes up over 7MB+, not to mention all the textures and cinimatics. This game could be well be over 30MB large.

Think again, its huge

There will be 2 or 3 version of the game

1. (light) No music or clips - about 10 megs
2. (medium) No music - about 15-20 megs
3. (full) - 50 to 100 megs

The music pack will also be available seperately.
